Concerning Elders - 1 tim 5
17 The elders who rule well are to be considered worthy of double honor, especially those who work hard at preaching and teaching. 18 For the Scripture says, “You shall not muzzle the ox while he is threshing,” and “The laborer is worthy of his wages.” 19 DO NOT RECEIVE AN ACCUSATION AGAINST AN ELDER EXCPT ON THE BASIS OF TWO OR THREE WITNNESSES. 20 THOSE WHO CONTINUE IN SIN, REBUKE IN THE PRESENCE OF ALL, SO THAT THE REST ALSO WILL BE FEARFUL OF SINNING. 21 I solemnly charge you in the presence of God and of Christ Jesus and of His chosen angels, to maintain these principles without bias, doing nothing in a spirit of partiality. 22 Do not lay hands upon anyone too hastily and thereby share responsibility for the sins of others; keep yourself free from sin.

We would always hear the first part of this passage, but the remaining was never preached on. It states that we shouldn’t consider an accusation UNLESS there are two or three witnesses, and there are hundreds of witnesses.

Other verses that referr to the type of leadership we were under.
Matthew 23 :Seven Woes
1Then Jesus said to the crowds and to his disciples: 2“The teachers of the law and the Pharisees sit in Moses’ seat. 3So you must obey them and do everything they tell you. But do not do what they do, for they do not practice what they preach. 4They tie up heavy loads and put them on men’s shoulders, but they themselves are not willing to lift a finger to move them. 5“Everything they do is done for men to see: They make their phylacteriesa wide and the tassels on their garments long; 6they love the place of honor at banquets and the most important seats in the synagogues; [Who always has the best seats at functions?] 7they love to be greeted in the marketplaces and to have men call them ‘Rabbi.’ [Mr. Johnson likes to be called ‘Pastor’ – even at Starbucks] 8“But you are not to be called ‘Rabbi,’ for you have only one Master and you are all brothers. 9And do not call anyone on earth ‘father,’ for you have one Father, and he is in heaven. [Who calls himself a ‘spiritual father?’] 10Nor are you to be called ‘teacher,’ for you have one Teacher, the Christ.b 11The greatest among you will be your servant. 12For whoever exalts himself will be humbled, [how often do they promote themselves from the pulpit?] and whoever humbles himself will be exalted. 13“Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You shut the kingdom of heaven in men’s faces. You yourselves do not enter, nor will you let those enter who are trying to.c 15“Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You travel over land and sea to win a single convert, and when he becomes one, you make him twice as much a son of hell as you are. 16“Woe to you, blind guides! You say, ‘If anyone swears by the temple, it means nothing; but if anyone swears by the gold of the temple, he is bound by his oath.’ 17You blind fools! Which is greater: the gold, or the temple that makes the gold sacred? 18You also say, ‘If anyone swears by the altar, it means nothing; but if anyone swears by the gift on it, he is bound by his oath.’ 19You blind men! Which is greater: the gift, or the altar that makes the gift sacred? 20Therefore, he who swears by the altar swears by it and by everything on it. 21And he who swears by the temple swears by it and by the one who dwells in it. 22And he who swears by heaven swears by God’s throne and by the one who sits on it. 23“Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You give a tenth of your spices—mint, dill and cummin. But you have neglected the more important matters of the law—justice, mercy and faithfulness. You should have practiced the latter, without neglecting the former. 24You blind guides! You strain out a gnat but swallow a camel. 25“Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You clean the outside of the cup and dish, but inside they are full of greed and self-indulgence. 26Blind Pharisee! First clean the inside of the cup and dish, and then the outside also will be clean. 27“Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You are like whitewashed tombs, which look beautiful on the outside but on the inside are full of dead men’s bones and everything unclean. 28In the same way, on the outside you appear TO PEOPLE as righteous but on the inside you are full of hypocrisy and wickedness. 29“Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You build tombs for the prophets and decorate the graves of the righteous. 30And you say, ‘If we had lived in the days of our forefathers, we would not have taken part with them in shedding the blood of the prophets.’ 31So you testify against yourselves that you are the descendants of those who murdered the prophets. 32Fill up, then, the measure of the sin of your forefathers! 33“You snakes! You brood of vipers! How will you escape being condemned to hell? 34Therefore I am sending you prophets and wise men and teachers.[and people who will stand up for truth, no matter what the cost] Some of them you will kill and crucify; others you will flog in your synagogues and pursue from town to town. 35And so upon you will come all the righteous blood that has been shed on earth, from the blood of righteous Abel to the blood of Zechariah son of Berekiah, whom you murdered between the temple and the altar. 36I tell you the truth, all this will come upon this generation. 37“O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, you who kill the prophets and stone those sent to you, how often I have longed to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, but you were not willing. 38Look, your house is left to you desolate. 39For I tell you, you will not see me again until you say, ‘Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord.’

Galatians 5 – Read all of Galatians 5 & 6, these are just a few verses.
The Life of Freedom 1 Christ has set us free to live a free life. So take your stand! Never again let anyone put a harness of slavery on you. 2-3I am emphatic about this. The moment any one of you submits to circumcision or any other RULE-KEEPING SYSTEM, at that same moment Christ's hard-won gift of freedom is squandered. I repeat my warning: The person who accepts the ways of circumcision trades all the advantages of the free life in Christ for the obligations of the slave life of the law. 4-6I suspect you would never intend this, but this is what happens. When you attempt to live by your own religious plans and projects, you are cut off from Christ, you fall out of grace. Meanwhile we EXPECTANTLY wait for a satisfying relationship with the Spirit. For in Christ, neither our most conscientious religion nor disregard of religion amounts to anything. What matters is something far more interior: faith expressed in LOVE I love you . 7-10You were running superbly! Who cut in on you, deflecting you from the true course of obedience? This detour doesn't come from the One who called you into the race in the first place. And please don't toss this off as insignificant. It only takes a minute amount of yeast, you know, to permeate an entire loaf of bread. 18 Why don't you choose to be led by the Spirit and so escape the erratic compulsions of a law-dominated existence? 19-21It is obvious what kind of life develops out of trying to get your own way all the time: REPETITIVE, LOVELESS, cheap sex; a stinking accumulation of MENTAL AND EMOTIONAL GARBAGE; frenzied and joyless grabs for happiness; trinket gods; MAGIC-SHOW RELIGION; paranoid LONELINESS; CUTTHROAT COMPETITION; all-consuming-yet-NEVER-SATISFIED wants; a brutal TEMPER; an impotence to LOVE OR BE LOVED; DIVIDED HOMES AND DIVIDED LIVES; small-minded and LOPSIDED PURSUITS; the vicious habit of DEPERSONALIZING EVERYONE INTO A RIVAL; uncontrolled and uncontrollable addictions; ugly PARODIES of community. I could go on.
Galatians 6: 12-16ish These people who are attempting to force the ways of circumcision on you have only one motive: THEY WANT AN EASY WAY TO LOOK GOOD BEFORE OTHERS, lacking the courage to live by a faith that shares Christ's suffering and death. All their talk about the law is gas. THEY THEMSELVES DON’T KEEP THE LAW! And they are HIGHLY SELECTIVE in the laws they do observe. They only want you to be circumcised so they can BOAST OF THEIR SUCCESS in recruiting you to their SIDE. That is contemptible! [[Mr.Johnson always says ‘If you’re not with us, you’re against us.’]] 14-16For my part, I am going to boast about nothing but the Cross of our Master, Jesus Christ. Because of that Cross, I have been crucified in relation to the world, set free from the stifling atmosphere of PLEASING OTHERS and fitting into the LITTLE PATTERNS that THEY DICTATE. Can't you see the central issue in all this? It is not what you and I do—submit to circumcision, reject circumcision. It is what God is doing, and he is creating something totally new, a free life! All who walk by this standard are the true Israel of God—his chosen people. Peace and mercy on them!
